Valentine's Day

Nothing you can make that can't be made
No one you can save that can't be saved
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time
It's easy

All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Yesterday started off with heart shaped French toast courtesy of the best Husband/Dad in the world… Ninja J

The the girls got a little Valentine gift. Every year we buy them a book. I downloaded this book template and I stick them in the book. I love this idea. When they are older they can look back and see the books they got each year.

HBear's Valentine books

SBean's Valentine book from last year
Their books THIS year :)

HBear got earring too and SBean got a hairband :)

We also put a sticker in special books too.

A few of the "special" books

It’s cute because some of these books were Ninja’s when he was a little boy, now they have been passed down to the girls and they can read them to their kids!

After breakfast we all took HBear to school. I helped her hand out her Valentine’s… man, those kids were bouncing off the walls!!! LOL

So I looked through all the Hallmark cards and I just couldn’t find the perfect 1 for Ninja… well not for under $7 anyways! WHY are cards $7????? That is nuts!

So I made 1 lol…

Tonight I am making a nice dinner. We are having Filet Mignon, shrimp, roasted baby potatoes, Caesar salad and CAKE!

OK... So this is what happened...

I baked the cakes and made the salad dressing and I was just about to start the bacon, it was 10:30am, and Ninja said, "Yeah, I wouldn't do that if I were you. Just go pack a bag."

So, I am the type of person that some (my F-I-Law lol) would call... ummm for the lack of a better word, controlling J

This news hit me pretty hard. I had already put hours into making the recipes and buying the food, and thinking about start times and all that silly stuff LOL.

The first thing I said was, “No way am I leaving Dad on Valentine’s Day!”

“I got that covered, don’t worry he is going to have a great VDay.”

“I volunteer in HBear’s class this afternoon.” I said

“No you don’t, I emailed her teacher 2 weeks ago and let the substitute know last week.” He said a little smugly.

“I am picking up HBear’s friend after school”

“No your Dad is picking up HBear’s friend after school.”

He had everything covered.

So I went to take a shower and when I got out, there was a bouquet of flowers, a card and a bag from Purdy’s Chocolates J

Yes... that's a chocolate SHOE!!!!

The card read…

And on the inside he wrote:

Top 10 Things woman love

1.  Diamonds
2.  Shopping
3.  Money
4.  Shoes
5.  Flowers
6.  Sense of Humor
7.  Chocolate
8.  No kids
9.  No cooking/cleaning
10. Being pampered

At this point I knew I was in for a pretty great day J. He wrote, Here’s to hoping you get everything a real woman loves (except for diamonds. No, seriously we can’t afford that. I mean like, for a really long time).

So I packed a bag of dress clothes and toiletries and we were off!

First stop Starbucks!

Next we headed to the highway. We drove to Kelowna and he pulled into… the mall? Huh?

When we got inside, he handed me a $50 gift certificate for La Senza and we picked out a few new undies and a beautiful nightgown J Hello? Awesome!

Next we got back into the car and pulled up to the ultra fancy Delta Kelowna. We went inside and turned down into the SPA! Hell yeah!

We got an AMAZING 90 minute couple massage followed by a relaxing steam shower!

We got showered, dressed and make-uped and we went to the lounge for a caramel macchiato martini!

My attempt at a selfie LOL

Next we got back into the van and went to The Keg for a great steak dinner! After dinner, wine, a Caesar and Billy Miner pie!!!! We went for a glass of wine at the casino, no we didn’t win, but I still felt like the luckiest girl in the world J

Making Ninja check on the girls LOL

So where were the kids?

Dad took HBear to The Lego Movie and then to Boston Pizza for shrimp lol. My in-laws came over and bathed, fed and put SBean down!

How awesome is that? When Ninja and I were dating we did some pretty crazy Valentine things. 1 Year I made him a “boudoir” calendar.

LOL My BFF took the pictures. It was hilarious! In one of them I was wearing a big fur hat, a scarf and knee high boots. That’s all. Everything was strategically covered.

It was like -30 outside LOL, all of a sudden I heard hoots and hollering and I looked behind me and 3 snowmobilers were behind me… getting a pretty good close up of my bare ass! LOL As I tried running to the car I totally bailed and had snow burns across my belly and knees LOL Ahhhh the memories LOL

To get to that calendar I sent him on a scavenger hunt around the city. He had to pick up dessert at Baked Expectations, they gave him his next clue, he met me for dinner, I took off and the server came with the next clue. He had to go to our favorite bar, do a shot (I had already paid for) and get his next clue. At the end was me in our hotel room with the calendar LOL.

One year I made our bedroom a harem tent. The ladies at Fanny’s Fabric thought I was nuts buying red and black silk to drape from the ceiling LOL

1 year he made the livingroom a love tent. The whole room was decorated and had a BIG fluffy “bed” on the ground. He had the movie Across the Universe all set up and every time they said love we had to spin this thing and do what it said, like tell 1 reason why you love him/her. Awwww, 9 months later, HBear was born LOL

1 year I did the 12 days of Valentines. That was fun too! We have been pretty quiet since we had kids though, so this was a nice surprise… after I let the control freak part of me go LOL

So this week I am making those steaks and that cake and all the other yummy stuff I had planned LOL

And Yes, I realize and appreciate that Ninja is awesome… wait till I tell you about special birthdays and our engagement!!!! LOL

Happy Valentine’s Day, I hope everyone got spoiled and enjoyed their loved ones as much as I did J
