Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, Whispering ‘it will be happier, - Alfred Tennyson.

This New Year’s Eve was quiet. I kinda hope that is a good indication of what 2014 is going to be like J
In the morning we watched the Canada/USA game… YEAH Canada!!!

Then we went to the library and picked out new books. Then Ninja and I took the girls to the pool!

After the pool we took a nice walk on the beach because the sun was shining and it was absolutely beautiful out… Sorry to all my Winnipeg family and friends LOL

We then got home and noticed we had a visit from the New Year’s Eve Fairy!!! LOL Thanks Dad!

So we ordered Pizza and SBean went for a nap. The 3 of us played Monopoly...

and then SBean was up and we had dinner!

After dinner HBear wrote out her resolutions...

She insists that her "g" is handwriting lol
and then we made popcorn and watched Planes in 3D!

By then it was almost midnight (9pm actually) lol so we had a dance party and watched the Niagara Falls countdown. HBear, Ninja and I brought down the house… quietly... as to not wake the dragon Bean J

When we put the Bear down we cracked open that bottle of wine and chipped off some Brix Dark Chocolate and hunkered down to watch the Oilers game. I know, pretty wild! We were tucked into bed by 11:15 lol.

Ninja and I noticed a few things this New Year’s Eve that made us feel… old not as young as we once felt we were, and I would like to share them with you…

AC Slater, I mean… ummm, seriously what is his name??? Well, most of you know who I mean, so that guy, yeah, he is a tool. Aside from that he was taking polls on the word of the year. Words like YOLO popped up. Really? I didn’t even know what it stood for but besides that, doesn’t the word of the year have to be an actual word?

Apparently not.

I actually already knew the answer because it was sent to me a few weeks ago via The Daily Babble email. I had already saved the article to discuss it with you…

“It turns out 2013, was the year of "us" -- at least that's what the folks at Oxford Dictionary think. According to the literary giant, the "it" word that defined the past year was "selfie."

According to the company's website, the decision to crown the word the "winner" of this year's competition was unanimous, and though other words were considered, the phrase that describes "a photo of oneself" was a runaway hit.” Daily Babble

The girls and I decided to participate in this 2013 trend and take a few selfies…

Another thing was the music. For 2 days it seems I have heard nothing but I Knew You Were Trouble, Wrecking Ball, Blurred Lines, Mirrors, Stay (and not the good one by Lisa Loeb), Roar, We Can’t Stop and Heart Attack.

PUKE!

I did not hear 1 of those songs until Dec 31, how could they possibly be the top songs of the year? Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Rhianna, and a middle aged man who looks just like his Dad????? Seriously???? WTF?

I listened to punk growing up. I am all about questioning authority and all that coming of age stuff BUT… Miley you are doing it all wrong!

I mean We Can’t Stop?

It's our party we can do what we want
It's our party we can say what we want
It's our party we can love who we want
We can kiss who we want
We can sing what we want

Ummm yeah. You sound like a grown up. Life is exactly that way. You are one smart girl.

I hope my girls don’t look to her as a role model! Actually when we were watching the Much countdown HBear said… I only liked Taylor Swift out of all those songs… well that isn’t great but a LOT better than the alternatives LOL

I asked Ninja today the first word he thought of when I said 2013.

He made a plane falling from the sky sound effect and then a big CRASH sound.

Hilarious!

So I sighed a big sigh trying to think of our 2013 word…

“Yup that there, what you just did… yeah that too was a predominate “word” this year”

LOL

So we decided if LOL and OMG and YOLO?!?! count, then our word of 2013 is

IIWII.

It is what it is.

On that note lol…

I resolve to:

Change my hairstyle. Wait, I mean get a hairstyle. I have been growing it since my sister’s wedding, a year and a half ago. I need to do something with it. I have been poking around at pictures but I find that I no longer have “eyes bigger than my belly” syndrome. I now know… all those pictures look great after hours of styling, tons of product and 6 week trims.

I am realistic. I know how much I can fit on my plate. So this makes it difficult. But I will prevail J

Lose 15lbs. Apparently Ninja says weight is not my problem… I actually am going to have to do some routine yoga or *gasp* crunches and planking!!!! I like to think if I stop snacking at night this wacky thing that happened to my stomach will magically go away.

When I look in the mirror I tend to cringe a little and shut my eyes… then I realize what I am doing and tell myself to buck up and take a good look!

And then I look and instinctively I cringe and shut my eyes lol

However, Ninja is right I don’t have to lose weight… I need to tone my flaaabby belly. Plus, I don’t want the girls to think, I think, I am fat! What am I telling my girls if I think my size 4 body is fat?!?!!? As if? So I change that resolution to maybe not a six pack OMG LOL but I would like to be able to manage a bikini line without having to pick up excess belly sag. Honestly, I tried to think of a better term for a long time and frankly I have given this too much thought already so I am over it. LOL I loved yoga BK and I even loved it when HBear was small, it will take a few afternoons but it will be like riding a bike… I hope J

Turn off my computer at night. I am terrible at this. I know all the many reasons why this is bad on so many levels. It is so easy to shut down and then turn off the power bar… the plug is even right beside my bed!!! Unplug the power bar. Duh.

Take my vitamins every night. I have to take my thyroid pill every morning. You would think I could remember my freaking vitamins at night! So important while breastfeeding. There is no excuse for missing.

Sex. Kay, skip if this is too much info lol. After having the baby it is hard to feel good about yourself… realistically we haven’t slept full nights consecutively in almost 18 months. Honestly, by the time my Dad even goes to bed it is almost midnight… one of us, if not both, is always asleep lol

BUT, I think that sex is important in a marriage. It helps to keep you on the same page lol. It is hard to stay mad at someone you are sleeping with J Now that Sbean is starting to sleep more (not counting last night lol) I have to make more of an effort to take off my socks before bed, turn the computer off earlier, and even shave my legs every once in a while (not just for BACON… Birthdays, Anniversary, Christmas Or New years). J

Change the format of the blog. I love quotes. Really there are so many times I cannot find the words but some great mind from the past, from the present, from lyric or movie seems to put into words exactly what I wanted to say.

However, I am finding it hard when I want to find a recipe when the titles don’t mention the menu L

So there will be a few changes as I play around with it and make it more what I want it to be.

Which leads me to my pretendsies (obviously I am going to continue to set goals for myself throughout the year) last resolution.

BE the woman I want to be. Don’t just think about it. Be it. I will not fall trap to “pinning” what I want my life to be rather than being the life I want.

That’s all folks! Welcome to 2014… I think this is going to be a gooder lol

Tonight we welcomed a new member into our family so I’d say that’s 1 hell of a good start! J
