I feel like the second child feels like they have to do everything faster - Tori Spelling

I know I have talked in the past about how the second child is so different than the first. I have been looking through pictures this week from 2008 up until today. For Xmas my family is giving my grandpa in Winnipeg a flashdrive and an electronic picture frame J

I have thousands of pictures. No like I picked just the best pictures, I haven’t done our wedding or 2013 and I am at 800+ pictures!!!! That is crazy!

When I look at the pictures of HBear’s first swim class, Ninja and I are both in the pool. I look at SBean’s and 1 haggard parent is in the pool and the other is wrangling in HBear.

SBean lol
Of course, I DO have tons of pictures of both girls so at least I didn’t fall to that age old dilemma. BUT… I do calendar’s for the girls. Everyday I write what HBear did. I started this from Day 1.
HBear's 1st year

All filled out with happy memories

Didn't even have enough room!!!

HBear's calendar THIS year

We fill out EVERY day!
I do the same thing for SBean but it just isn’t as filled out L I haven’t even checked her monthly weight and height!!!! What kind of Mother am I??

SBean's 1st year...

Practically empty!

OMG I am going to have to go back and fill this out!

Some months were good :)

October was a busy month for her lol
I am making it a priority right now to do better! Wait a second… I have a blog now. I pretty much tell the world about her daily adventures. I take it back I rock J

LOL Seriously, what got me thinking about this was at lunch today. With HBear I talked her freaking ear off. Everything I did I told her about. I showed her everything, got her to feel everything, read her 3 stories before each nap and bedtime, and sang songs ALL DAY.

This morning I laid SBean down for her nap, she got up we went to the store to get me Halls and then home for lunch. I barely spoke to her. I mean I talked a bit but for the most part I just hurried and got my shit done. When I put her down she gets 1 book. We DO sing but I don’t explain everything little thing to her.

At lunch, we were eating in silence. What am I doing? I thought. This is terrible!

I thought about it and realized I have a good reason. I am tired of hearing myself talk. Seriously it seems like I never shut up… ever. HBear talks all the time too. I am constantly trying to talk over her to get her to do her stuff too. I talk to Ninja, I talk to Dad, I chatter SBean’s ear off most days and I need quiet!

I am sorry Sbean. I love you very much but this Mommy needs to hear herself think. Maybe this will be bad for her future. Hbear reads like a pro, she is very loquacious lol, and she questions everything. Maybe SBean won’t because in my need for quiet she is getting the short end of the stick…. Again. Or maybe she will learn the art or LISTENING. Something HBear and I aren’t the best at.

Yes, I going to think of this positively and on those occasions when SBean and I sit in silence, I am going to think of it as teaching her to be reflective, thoughtful and the skill of listening to life around her J

Thanks for letting me figure this out! LOL

In my 5 minutes of silence I thought about dinner, Yes I know I am a loser Dana.

Tonight we are having Ribs, Baked gnocchi and sautéed red peppers.

I talked to my Great Aunt today and she told me how to do these ribs… I hope they are fall off the bone like my Mom’s because that is what my Dad is craving.

Fall off the Bone Ribs

So I took the ribs, oiled them, salt and peppered them, sprinkled garlic powder on them, foiled them and put them in the oven at 300 for 3 hours. Slow and Low people, slow and low!

When they were done, I put some BBQ sauce on them and Ninja put them on the BBQ  just to make the sauce sticky and caramelized J

I had 1 bag of homemade gnocchi left from when Mom and I made the last batch so here goes nothing…

Baked gnocchi with bacon, tomato and mozzarella
Adapted by Simply Delicious

2-3 cups gnocchi
9 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoon tomato paste
1 clamshell grape tomatoes, quartered
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon basil
2 tablespoons 2% milk
large handful fresh parsley, chopped
1 cup mozzarella, shredded

Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil.

In the same pan you used to fry the bacon (an ovenproof pan), leave a bit of fat then add the garlic and paprika and fry for 30 seconds.

Add the tomatoes, the tomato paste, the basil and the sugar and allow to simmer for 5 minutes.

Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the milk, parsley and season with salt and pepper.

Cook the gnocchi in the salted water until it starts floating to the top. Drain and add to sauce.

Add bacon. Stir. Top with the mozzarella.

Broil in the oven until the mozzarella is melted and golden.

Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

They DID fall off the bone! Thanks Aunt Maryelle, oh and Uncle Bob threw in his 2 cents too :) so thanks to both of you! LOL
