But what's in between? Where are your ideas? You sit around and dream For next Halloween. Why not everyday? Are you so afraid What will people say... After Halloween - The Dead Kennedys
I
remember being young and so excited for holidays.
By
the 1st day of school I was already planning my costume for
Halloween and doing the Mash… the Monster Mash.
I
used to dream of being a hoop skirted Lady of the Royal Court. At a young age I
began reading historical romances so I envisioned myself being swept away by a
swashbuckling pirate, or better yet I was the swashbuckling pirate!
Halloween
this year has been very… rushed.
On
Sunday we went to swim lessons and because Ninja was still coughing I went in
with the Bean. My nipples have been bothering me, I know I have mentioned it
but on Sunday 1 boob looked like Pam Anderson’s and the other looked like Betty
White’s!
By
the time I got out of the pool I was shaking so hard because I was so cold and
in so much pain that nausea was rolling over me in hard waves. I got dressed
somehow while Ninja took control and he drove me right to the walk-in clinic.
As soon as I got in the vomiting began. I have ZERO pain tolerance. One day I
will tell you all about labor and the puke show THAT was lol.
The
Dr. actually tried to get me to stop breastfeeding. Don’t get me wrong he was awesome but
he flat out told me to stop breastfeeding. He said by 11 months she has gotten what she
needs and I should be proud of myself and all that stuff. I barely remember as
I hung my head and shook with cold and nausea. I forcefully told him that was
not an option and to please help me. He gave me shot of Gravol in my ass OUCH
and a paperbag to get me breathing under control and said I had sever mastitis.
He helped me out to the van and told Ninja what to do with me and reminded me
that it is OK to give up breastfeeding.
I
slept for the next day. No pumpkin patch for my girls L
Monday when I woke up at 4:30am for her morning feed, I swear she gets an hour earlier until she resets! Anyways, she leeched on and kneeded at the same time and whitehot pain ripped through me. I think I blacked out until the pain was manageable, OMG PAIN! Thank goodness Dad and Ninja took charge. They got HBear to school and everything! Jeeze, I
mean it is now Thursday and my boob is still throbbing! This is sucky.
So
on Tuesday Ninja took the girls after school to a pumpkin patch and got a few.
It wasn’t the fun afternoon I was imagining but I am realizing that holidays
and “moments” very rarely are what you dream of.
On
Tuesday night HBear had her Sparks Halloween party and she dressed up in last
year’s Monarch Butterfly costume. She looked as adorable this year as she did
last year J
This
morning she was so excited, OMG! I feel so bad for the teacher, those kids were
bouncing off the walls when I dropped her off.
She
looked beautiful in her Perfectly Pinkalicious Princess Pirate Costume!
At
noon SBean and I went to back to school to watch the Halloween Parade. I was a
Scarecrow and SBean was a little Halloweenie lol Papa came too and had lunch with HBear!
Papa and SBean watching the parade! |
Last
night we did our pumpkins. Man what a shitshow that was. SBean is screaming in
her playpen because she hates to be contained but Ninja, Dad and I were all
trying to concentrate on carving these stupid pumpkins and HBear is all like,
“EEEEWWWWWWW
Gross. I’m not putting my hands ibn all that, that, that PULP!”
Seriously?
Again I say, this is SUPPOSED to be fun God Dammit!!!!!! As my boob throbs, my
mouth is all dry from the antibiotics, the baby is shaking the playpen and all
the adults have large carving knives in their hands. Hmmmmmm?
So
we only got 3 done. Today I will do the rest. But, the guys and HBear got the
yard spookified J
It looks great!
So
tonight we are switching things up. I always had French Onion soup and Caesar
bread for Halloween. But that was MY tradition. HBear wants spaghetti. DONE!
Spooky Spaghetti
Adapted
from The Pioneer Woman
1.5
pounds Ground Beef
1
tablespoon Olive Oil
2
Yellow Onions, diced
1/2
Red Bell Pepper, diced
8
mushrooms, sliced
3
cloves Garlic, pressed
1/3
cup White Wine
1
can 28 oz Crushed Tomatoes
2
tablespoons Tomato Paste
1
jar Marinara Sauce
1
teaspoon Oregano
1
teaspoon Thyme
2
teaspoons Basil
1
teaspoon onion powder
2
Bay Leaves
2
tablespoons Brown Sugar
2
teaspoons Salt
1/2
teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper
3
tablespoons Parsley, chopped
10
Basil Leaves, rolled and sliced
1
box Spaghetti, Cooked Al Dente and tossed with Olive Oil
In
a large pot over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until totally browned.
Remove
meat from pot with a slotted spoon and put into a bowl. Set aside.
Discard
any grease in pot, but do not clean the pot. Drizzle in olive oil. When it is
heated, throw in the diced onion, mushrooms and diced bell pepper. Stir it
around for 1 1/2 minutes, then add the garlic. Stir and cook for an additional
minute.
Pour
in the wine and allow it to bubble up and reduce for about 1 1/2 minutes.
Add
crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and marinara sauce.
Stir to combine, then add
oregano, thyme, onion powder, basil, brown sugar, salt, bay leaves, and crushed
red pepper.
Stir, then add cooked ground beef and stir to combine.
Place
the lid on the pot and allow to simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Add a
little water or some beef broth if it needs more liquid.
After an hour, add the parsley
and the fresh basil. Stir to combine, then put the lid back on and allow it to
simmer for another 30 minutes or so. Discard bay leaves before serving.
I
tried to make black noodles but they kinda turned out light purple L I mixed equal parts
water, red food coloring, green food coloring and blue food coloring and mixed
it into the noodles after they had been rinsed and oiled. Spooky LOL
The
girls got ready and they were off! Happy Halloween Everyone!
